Eyelid in abnormal position

Drooping of the upper eyelid may be due to the lid being low (ptosis) or an excess or upper eyelid skin hanging over the eye (dermatochalasis)

Drooping of the lower eyelid where the lid is no longer in contact with the eyeball is termed ectropion.

Rolling in of the lower or occasionally upper eyelid causing scratching of the eye surface from eyelashes is termed entropion.

Bags may occur in the upper or lower eyelids.

A staring appearance due to the eyelids being excessively wide open is seen in TED and occasionally orbital masses.

Rare causes:

Eyelid spasms / blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm
