Glare or pain on looking on bright lights
Glare without photophobia may indicate cataract, (or capsule opacification after previous cataract surgery) especially if vision is also reduced, or a poor tear film (dry eye).
Photophobia with a red eye is seen with corneal abrasions, foreign bodies or inflammation of the cornea (keratitis) and iritis. Bilateral photophobia and discharge is seen with conjunctivitis.
