Retinal macroaneurysm

Description

A bulge in the wall of an arteriole blood vessels in the peripheral parts of the retina allows leakage of blood and fluid into the surrounding area. More common in elderly women and patients with high blood pressure.

Clinical Features

May be noticed as a blank area of vision in one eye; often no symptoms

Management

See ophthalmologist
